Let's do an October clay class!
Sgraffito!

What is sgraffito? This is a technique that involves scratching through a layer of colored slip (clay mixed with stain) or underglaze (like paint, just for clay), to reveal the underlying clay body, creating intricate designs and patterns. If you've carved a woodblock for printmaking it's very similar, only done on clay. The design is then fired in the kiln for the finished product.

Here are some more fun details:
~~~I will provide supplies and 2 pieces of pottery that will be ready for carving.
~~~You can choose your colors and bring your own design drawn to size specifications or use a few fun patterns I will provide.
~~~ At the end of class you will leave your project to dry and I will fire it in the kiln,
~~~After some time for it to cure, you can pick up your uniquely carved piece of pottery the next week.

This is a great project designed for all skill levels!
No need to have previous pottery or hand-building experience.
