Want to make your art better???

Laurie Weller
Ever wonder what critique is about? To begin, we look at 2 pieces of artwork. Bring in any size that you
can fit into your vehicle. It is helpful to bring in any source material that you are using, especially if you
are working from a photo or drawing. You may bring in work that is incomplete, work that you are just
stuck on, or work is the easiest to make any changes on. Some people even bring in finished work, it is
up to you. It is helpful if the two pieces are related in subject matter, style and technique.
What I do is make observations about all aspects of the work, from formal artistic choices to subject
matter and style. Feedback is given to the artists on what is working well in the imagery, and what can
be improved. These will be my observations and not absolute, as every artist has a different point of
view.
My background is in teaching, both graduate and undergraduate, as well as exhibiting my work in
watercolor, oils, acrylics and occasionally prints for fifty years. Register for one or all of the dates.
Minimum of seven and maximum of 10 participants. No refunds for those cancelling less than 10 days in
advance.
Any questions? Contact me or any of the VAST artists who’ve attended critiques with me before.
With encouragement,
Laurie Weller
